Recipient Of The 2024 Glenn Daniel Smooth FM Scholarship Is Announced
The Smooth Network is delighted to announce the recipient of the 2024 Glenn Daniel Smooth FM Scholarship, Ella Carter.
Ella is currently a student at the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) and commenced her studies in the Graduate Diploma in Radio and Podcasting at AFTRS on a full-time basis this year.
The Glenn Daniel Smooth FM Scholarship is a merit based AFTRS scholarship in partnership with Smooth FM awarded each year to help develop Australian radio, news and journalism talent. The scholarship supports students from under-represented groups in Australian broadcast sectors to continue their education at the school.
The scholarship, which recognises excellence, is in honour of renowned Australian radio journalist, broadcaster and podcast professional Glenn Daniel and is focused on supporting the next generation of storytellers.
Said Ella on being awarded the scholarship, “I am filled with endless gratitude, exhilaration, and pride! To receive the Glenn Daniel Smooth FM Scholarship is such an honour and I could not be more excited to attend AFTRS in 2024.
“With the help of this scholarship, I am able to take the leap from New Zealand to Australia and pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a radio host. I will forever be thankful to AFTRS and the team at Smooth FM for this incredible opportunity.”
Said Smooth Network’s Head of Programming, Peter Clay, “It’s a privilege for Smooth FM to again partner with AFTRS this year on the scholarship, to help support a new generation of radio and podcasting talent.
“Glenn Daniel was an admired member of the Australian radio industry and we’re delighted the scholarship has been awarded to Ella. Congratulations.”
The Glenn Daniel Smooth FM Scholarship commenced in 2023 to support the prioritisation of access and equity, ensuring gifted creatives can access AFTRS’s world-leading creative education.
